Martin Gerster (MdB) ist the patron of the AI Filmfestival!

Martin Gerster, member of the German Bundestag for the past 21 years and currently serves on the Budget Committee, is the patron of Germany’s first AI Film Festival in Biberach. As the committee’s rapporteur responsible for the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI), Gerster oversees the annual budget planning for numerous subordinate federal agencies. These include major security authorities such as the Federal Police and the Federal Criminal Police Office, as well as the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees, covering areas such as asylum and integration.

His responsibilities also extend to other federal institutions, including the widely known Federal Agency for Civic Education, the Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance, the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW), and the Federal Statistical Office. In addition, he serves as a deputy member of both the Committee on Digital Affairs and the Committee on Internal Affairs.

We are delighted to have secured Martin Gerster as patron of the festival. Among other topics, the Member of Parliament has engaged extensively with the use of artificial intelligence in the field of security, specifically with regard to Palantir. We also hope to facilitate discussion and critical engagement with these issues during the festival.

Martin Gerster (MdB) ist Schirmherr des AI Filmfestivals

Martin Gerster, seit 21 Jahren im Bundestag für die SPD und gegenwärtig im Haushaltsausschuss, ist Schirmherr des ersten deutschen KI- Filmfestivals in Biberach. Gerster ist zuständiger Haushälter für das Bundesinnenministerium (BMI) beispielsweise auch für die zahlreichen nachgeordneten Bundesbehörden und damit für ihre jährliche Budgetplanung verantwortlich. Dazu gehören bedeutende Sicherheitsbehörden wie Bundespolizei und Bundeskriminalamt, aber auch für das Bundesamt für Migration und Flüchtlinge mit dem Themenfeld Asyl und Integration. Zudem liegen weitere Bundesbehörden wie die allseits bekannte Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung, der Bevölkerungs- und Katastrophenschutz, das Technische Hilfswerk oder das Statistische Bundesamt in seinem Verantwortungsbereich. Außerdem ist er stellvertretendes Mitglied im Ausschuss für Digitales sowie im Ausschuss für Inneres.

Unter anderem hat der Bundestagsabgeordnete intensiv mit künstlicher Intelligenz im Bereich Sicherheit, explizit mit Palantir befasst. Wir hoffen auch in diesem Bereich eine Auseinandersetzung und Diskussion darüber während des Festivals organisieren zu können.
