Who we are

Germany’s First AI Film Festival at Stadtbuchhandlung Biberach

Running parallel to the renowned Biberach Film Festival, Stadtbuchhandlung Biberach will open its stage in autumn 2026 for a visionary cultural event: Germany’s first AI Film Festival.

For five days — from Wednesday through Sunday — the historic bookshop in the heart of the city will transform into a hub for the cinema of tomorrow. The programme will feature international productions created with the support of artificial intelligence, ranging from experimental short films to feature-length works (running from 5 to 60 minutes).

The festival’s mission is to foster discourse on the impact of emerging technologies on film culture and to open a creative dialogue between traditional cinematic artistry and digital innovation. While AI has already become an established creative partner in international filmmaking, it is still often met with scepticism in Germany. The festival aims to bridge this gap and open up new perspectives.

In addition to film screenings, audiences can look forward to workshops, panel talks and roundtable discussions exploring the opportunities, limitations and ethical questions surrounding AI-driven filmmaking.

The festival was initiated by Corinna Palm, theatre director, film enthusiast and owner of Stadtbuchhandlung Biberach, together with Uli Stöckle, film producer and filmmaker. The festival’s curator is Marcel Barsotti, AI film pioneer and acclaimed film composer. The programme will be hosted by Tobias Meinhold, founder of Biberach’s cultural platform KultuReservoir and former chairman of the Biberach Film Festival.

The AI Film Festival sees itself as a creative complement and open platform for filmmakers wishing to explore and discuss new forms of cinematic storytelling during the Biberach Film Festival.
